In this blog post, I talked about a one day special that eBay was having on their listing fees. They actually do this quite often, but now it seems that they are extending this or expanding this for the entire month of September! Actually, it started yesterday August 29th and ends September 30th!
This is similar to the August 15th special. If you list using the Gallery Feature and start your listings under $10, the listing fees are free. In addition, they’ve sweetened the pot on listings that start above $10. For those listings, you get 25% off the insertion fee. You can read the full announcement on their No Listing Fees Announcement page.
I can’t recall a time in recent years when eBay did an entire month of free listings like this. They’ve done this a day here and a day there, usually in mid week. But this gives free listings for the whole month — for items starting under $10.
This is a great time to test products on eBay for which you may not be sure of their performance. The main cost of listing something and having it not sell (aside from your time) is the listing fee. With that removed, your risk is removed. Or at least with the fee reduced by 25%, your risk is reduced by 25%. Also, the eBay ‘buzz mill’ says the best match search will go into effect sometime next month, so this may be a good test period for that as well.
