I don’t usually watch TV and when I do, I TIVO out the commercials so I didn’t see this one (if it’s aired yet). I noticed that eBay has had this banner now that says ‘Shop Victoriously’. I thought that was kind of strange so I went to check out what was behind it. That led me to the eBay forums, where someone posted a link to this YouTube video.
This is meant to be humorous. But, what about the dog race metaphor? What about the disabled person? Hmm. For the most part, the people in the forum dissed this video pretty bad. The general consensus was that eBay shows buyers in a bad light in their marketing. What do you think? Harmless fun or humor gone amok? Or another branding experiment?
