I don’t know about you, but two of my biggest pet peeves are to land on a website and a) have music start blaring at me or b) have someone start talking to me. My expectation when I visit a website is that I am in control. More than likely your customers feel the same way too.
There’s been a lot of discussion about pop up ads being one of the biggest irritants to some people. That’s why control is built into most internet browsers these days. It lets you decide which sites serve you up a pop up or not.
Think about your website for a minute. How much control does your prospect have as they browse your site? Do you make it a pleasant experience for them to decide to stay (and maybe buy) or are they quickly turned off by the bells and whistles you have in place?
