Our world is so techno focused these days that it’s easy to forget the way we used to do things in the “old” days. But you may want to rethink this strategy. You could be leaving a ton of money on the table if you are just relying on the current technology to get the word out about your business.
Here’s a case in point. My colleague Greg Hoffman, aka Marketing Gorilla, was searching for a new “right place” to apply his superior marketing and affiliate management skills. He found that place via Monster.com but wasn’t satisfied to be one more resume in a pile. So he took it a step further. Greg personally delivered his resume with a box of donuts to his employer of choice and was assured that he would get an extra look. And it worked. Greg begins his new job with the company next week.
So what can you take away from this tactic? When you want something, go after it. Walk in the other person’s shoes and use the tactics that would appeal to them most to get your foot in the door.
