I’m talking here about the kind of traffic that’s on wheels. When I read news articles about home-based businesses and associated zoning challenges, one common theme I see is ‘traffic’. When I read about zoning committees trying to decide whether to grant or revoke a home-business permit, a common complaint they must deal with is level of traffic.
Does your home-based business have the potential to bring clients or customers to your door? Will your home-based business have delivery trucks and/or service vehicles coming and going during the day? Typically, this type of traffic will negatively impact residential neighborhoods and may trigger complaints.
These are questions you should ask prior to launching a home-based business. If there is potential traffic impact, you may want to consider alternatives. At the very least, you will want to familiarize yourself with zoning ordinances and restrictions for your home-based business.
