I like Tom’s short post about New Year’s resolutions called Raw Meat for Resolutions.
What is it that leaders could do to scare themselves? Here are a few ideas – they won’t all apply to you:
Declare and share your hopes and dreams.
Deal with that difficult situation that you have been letting linger.
Share your thoughts and ideas more fully and often.
Refuse to do stupid things.
Refuse to do perfectly fine things.
Make a change without getting permission.
Make an unreasonable request.
Let others lead.
Admit you were wrong or made a mistake.
Take a new direction.
Give a compelling talk.
Provide honest and complete feedback.
Take a chance.
What scares you? I think it is good to keep ourselves on the edge, because that’s were creativity and innovation occurs. I have been thinking about how this applies to my work, too. What scares me most? Well, I’ll share my greatest fears tomorrow.
