I was on the phone the other day with our Merchant Bank trying to get assistance on understanding something from one of their statements. I was amazed at how often the Customer Service Representatives had to shift me to another department to answer my question. I lost count (I think it was 4 times) and they seemed all too eager to transfer me on to someone else.
Do you encounter this a lot with large companies? This is one huge advantage you as a home-based business will have over any larger competitors. You can take a problem and run with it instead of pawning off the customer to some other ‘department’. As a small home-based business, you can give a ‘hands-on’ and ‘can do’ treatment of your customer’s problems. They will appreciate it too – because they probably don’t like getting bounced from one department to the next either.
