So I feel like a kid at Christmas. You might think that I´ve been given a nice gift, some diamonds or, like one recent study said that women wanted more than anything, a plasma television (I´ll take the diamonds, thank you!) But no, that´s not it at all.
What´s making me feel so great?
This weekend my husband and I have a date, something that hasn´t happened in about six months and, before that, one year.
In the past two and a half years, we have gone out twice for date night. And with a newborn on the horizon in only five weeks time, we won´t be doing this again anytime soon.
So as you can imagine, I´m thrilled. Ecstatic. Thinking I might need to shave, put on some nice clothes, and get my hair cut before the big day.
I´ve written about the importance of date night, but I´ve never really taken my own advice (why does this always happen?!)
So again, working mommies (and all mommies and daddies who might be reading this post), you need to make sure that you are having date nights from time to time. Put it in the schedule. Hire a sitter. Even if you only go out for dinner and a movie, or some shopping, or an activity, do it from time to time.
My challenge for you this weekend is to arrange a date night with your spouse. Make the arrangements and then follow through. Then drop me a line and let me know how refreshed you feel! As tired as you may be from working and taking care of the children and the house, the time that you spend away with your spouse will make you forget all of that.
Now, I´m off to get my toenails done. It´s been months since I´ve actually been able to bend this pregnant body over enough to do them myself!
