If you’ve been considering a customer newsletter, but haven’t gotten around to it yet, perhaps the time is now. Atlanta-based The Cook’s Warehouse does a nice one. Perhaps you can borrow an idea or two. Here’s an outline:
Name: What’s Cooking
Number of items: 10
Format: Company logo and name of newsletter at the top. Next comes a list of the items to be found in the newsletter. Then, the items appear, one after the other, with photos.
First item: An announcement that one of the retailer’s three Atlanta stores will demonstrate a new coffee machine tomorrow.
Second item: An invitation to stop by another of the retailer’s stores to take a peek at a an induction burner.
Third item: An invitation to stop by yet another location to take a look at chilling and grilling accessories.
Then, the newsletter includes short write-ups about five upcoming cooking classes and the chefs who will be teaching them. Readers can click to sign up.
Hiring: Management takes advantage of the newsletter to list job openings.
Finally: There is a picture of store owner Mary Moore with former President Jimmy Carter. Moore is a new member of The Carter Center Board of Councilors.
That’s it. Simple and effective.
