If you’re selling physical products online as your home-based business or planning to, have you given thought to demand? It may sound obvious, but if you’re going to sell a product online, there must be a demand for it in order for you to create a profitable business out of it. Either the demand should already exist or your must create it.
But creating demand is the domain of large companies with huge marketing budgets and plenty of capital to sink into their efforts (think Apple, Gap, Microsoft, etc). Selling products in a home-based business can be much easier if you can tag along with demand that’s already in place – created by market forces or by someone else.
Luckily there are plenty of tools available to help us lowly home-based businesses to determine demand levels for products. Tools like WordTracker and the Market Research Wizard can take the guesswork out of selecting an already in-demand product. Of course, demand level alone is not the sole determiner of success, but it’s a start. Create demand? Not me, thanks.
