I have spent this week working on my vision board. I’d not
thought of creating one of these until I attended a NAWBO meeting and one of
the women, when talking about how she could keep chugging forward to meet her
business goal, had completed one and hung it over her desk.
If you are unfamiliar with a vision board, this is basically
a type of board that you hang with certain photos and words and phrases that
will remind you where you are heading. Sometimes it is difficult to keep this
in mind when you have children yelling, a boss screaming, work pressures and
family issues to handle. If you are like me, you forget where it is you are
going because you are just trying to make it through where you are.
I felt this was a wonderful visual way to keep my end goal
in mind. So, I’ve taken words and photos of what it is that I want from my
business within the next 5 years and pinned them to a cork board that I covered
with pretty fabric. Some of the items that I have included: a photo of a small
brick building, since I would love to eventually move my business into a
setting of this type; words to keep me motivated, such as DREAM and INSPIRE; a picture
of a woman running through the woods, since I always feel that my running and business
owning are interconnected and so similar; and a picture of my family, as they are
what I work for each day.
If you find yourself stuck in a rut, consider creating a vision
board. Several websites exist that describe how you can set them up and what you
might want to include, but I say just lose your eyes, envision yourself in ten years,
and go from there!
Happy Thursday Moms!
