One of the more sinister fraudulent emails making its rounds right now is a “notification” that you are under Federal investigation. This is a classic tack that preys on your fear. The emails claim to come from the FTC or the IRS. You should realize, however, that if you or your business is under investigation from the Feds, you will likely be informed by snail mail.
Watch out especially for an attachment to these fraudulent emails. They contain spyware or even a virus that allows someone else to take over your computer. This can be devastating in terms of passwords and other information that could affect your personal finances. Make sure you are careful, and avoid opening emails that claim you the Feds are investigating you.
