A friend of mine is starting a really small business (while still holding a regular job) and needed to get a phone number for the business, voicemail, and a fax # (receive only). For outbound faxes he’s comfortable to just scan a document and email it as an Adobe pdf. He decided on CallWave for $7.95 a month. Seems like a good solution. Voicemail can be received as audio email attachments as well. Check out CallWave
Alternatively you can try Skype. SkypeIn gives you a local phone number and voicemail. There isn’t a fax service but if you are working with a small distributed team Skype works great. You can instanat message, do video conferencing, and chat long distances with others on Skype for free. SkypeOut (Skype to landline numbers) has pretty good quality, and SkypeIn voice quality is superb.
