It’s difficult to keep up with the latest in retail technology. Just when you thought you had mastered e-mail marketing comes this from Reuters: “Polo Ralph Lauren to launch shopping by cell phone.”
Polo is the first luxury retailer to launch a mobile commerce site, wrote Martinne Geller of Reuters.
Tech-savvy shoppers will download special software to camera-phones to scan the codes and be directed to a phone-friendly version of a Ralph Lauren Web site, where they can shop. That’s for now. Within a year, cell phones with preinstalled code-readers should come to market, according to the article.
