Mr. Phillips, a civil engineer from Davis, Calif., really wanted to take advantage of a promotion tied to ConAgra Foods Inc.’s Healthy Choice brand of meals and snacks. It offered frequent-flyer miles for proofs of purchase. He figured out that $3,140 worth of pudding would be enough to get a lifetime’s supply of frequent-flyer miles — 1.25 million. I sure hope that pudding is good for jet lag.”
