My recent post about Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi’s recent book, Good Business:Leadership, Flow, and the making of Meaning, inspired me to write this poem.
I Flowed Into Work Today
I flowed into work today
Among the chaos, all is OK
For my system and rhythm are humming
Even though all the rules are changing
I am in tune with my energy and goals.
I flowed through my department
Won´t become slave to the urgent
I and my team know what matters
And appreciate our work that fosters
The strength to move mountains and create.
I flowed amid the piles of paper
With projects, I am a master juggler
The many demands do not suffer focus
Because I am cautious
To not dilute my ability to do things well.
Flowing feels both wonderful and strange
It´s a way I would not want to exchange
For the more common frazzle and fray
That typifies most managers´ days
Flowing is moving is progress is learning is fun.
