Home-Based Businesses are not exactly like other businesses. For one, our office space is generally part of our home and unless we’ve taken special steps (such has configuring a room and acquiring the appropriate zoning permissions), we don’t have a place in-home to meet clients, customers, vendors, business peers, etc.
There are a lot of problems with inviting business associates or clients to your home. For one, they may not feel comfortable coming to a stranger’s home and you may not feel comfortable inviting ‘strangers’ into your home. So our homes are generally not very conducive to business meetings.
One of my favorite places to meet is Starbucks. If you don’t go at their busiest time of day, you’ll generally find a good degree of ambience there and most people enjoy meeting at a Starbucks. In addition, they almost always have wireless internet connectivity available so you can go online while you meet if that’s required.
So if you want to arrange a business meeting, but are stumped for meeting space, try one of these alternatives. Feel free to comment if you have any meeting ideas to add.
