There’s some really interesting green building projects going on around the world. In Victoria B.C, Windmill Developments has a 12-year plan for Dockside Green. Dockside Green will be an entire green community. There will be townhomes, condos, retail space, office space, and lots of park and grass. Wired Magazine listed Dockside Green as one of the Top Ten Greenest neighbourhoods in the world, and they’re hoping to become the first Platinum LEED community in the world.
The Island of Roatan will soon have a completed Oceano Village, a community of waterfront homes that are being built to be “net zero” in terms of their environmental impact. Among other green initiatives, the builders of Oceano have a solar aquatic greenhouse system that uses microbes and plants to clean sewage water, to be used for irrigation.
