The first cup of coffee is always on me…I have a very good friend in Austin who is a commercial realtor and one of the things he does every year that gets great return and generates good public relations buzz, is just simply sending out $5.00 Starbucks cards to a very targeted list of 50 leasors/buyers.
To the cards he attaches his card and a note that reads, “The first cup of coffee is always on me..” . Hokey? Maybe. Does it work? Yes!
The response rate in the past three years keeps growing. It’s a tough market if you’re an independent commercial realtor in Austin, and every little bit of free java helps.
The real story beyond that everything in our country seems to revolve around that next cup of Joe, is that he has successfully implemented a PR campaign and goodwill, with very little investment of time and money. For a little under $300. he’s had about a 25% response to his card, and the percentage continues to grow.
I have another friend who is a white paper writer in Austin. For his PR and marketing effort, he took a list of 100 targets and sent his card attached to a glossy white sheet of paper. The paper had these words printed on it, “Let me fill in the space for you.”
Out of 100 targets he got fifteen white paper gigs. Total cost to him was under $150. He usually charges anywhere from $200 to $4000 for white papers!
Imagine what your company could do if you budgeted even just $1000 a year toward innovatively generating PR about your services and what you can do for folks in your immediate region?
