Best Buy Co. Inc. has been named by BetterInvesting Magazine as its January 2009 Undervalued Stock. The reasons noted for the selection of Best Buy: “The committee believes Best Buy will benefit from a post-recession environment and can differentiate itself with its breadth of merchandise, knowledgeable salespeople and Geek Squad unit.”
It’s nice to hear positive retail news these days. Here is a little more: Atlanta’s Lenox Square mall is adding two new stores — Faconnable and Standard.
And, another Simon Property Group mall — Phipps Plaza, which is just across the street from Lenox Square — is adding a new Wolford store and a remodeled Versace space.
In an environment where malls are struggling, this is news worth celebrating.
The Faconnable boutique will be a big one — 4,500 square feet — and is set for a spring opening. The Standard store, opening this month, will be much smaller at only 700 square feet.
Wolford, at Phipps Plaza, will open its 950-square-foot store in time for holiday shopping. And the 2,000-square-foot newly outfitted Versace also opens this fall.
