For someone who prides himself on being an early adopter, I can sure take a long time to catch on to the use of new blog-related tools.
One such tool is BlogPulse, an automated trend discovery system for blogs. Unlike Technorati, which tracks what is being said on blogs in almost real-time, BlogPulse uses machine-learning and natural-language processing techniques to analyze daily blog content to determine trends and blog topic “hotspots.”
BlogPulse mines the most common entries in hundreds of thousands of web logs to give us a daily “top 40.” To quote the website, it presents the “40 most common key phrases, 40 most common key topics (determined by clusters of key phrases) and the 40 most common people mentioned or searched that day. Separately, BlogPulse Top Links presents the 40 most popular web log links on a daily basis.”
Like Technorati, BlogPulse is also a blog search engine, which is the feature of greatest attraction to me. But, if you happen to be a trendwatcher, it is an indispensible tool.
I know all you blogophiles are already all over BlogPulse, but like I said, it takes me a while to catch on.
