Forbes has brought out its second annual Top States for Business report and Virginia is the top of the pile for the second time in a row. Virginia’s top business virtues include an incentive environment that is the fourth-best in the country as well as an unemployment rate that’s the third lowest in the nation.
Utah is second with low business costs (9% below the national average) and a strong economic environment. Their five-year job growth rate jumped to 1.8%, from 1.3%, while incomes growth improved to 3.2%, from 2.2%.
Other notables include North Carolina, and Washington which had more businesses open per capita the past three years than any other state.
