In an attempt to spark the economy through entrepreneurship and quell people’s fears of unemployment, PerfectBusiness.com — a networking and resource Web site for entrepreneurs based in Los Angeles — is proposing an ordinance that will replace the numbers 9 and 5 with exclamation points.
“The proposed change will constantly remind us there is more to life than working nine to five,” says Patrick Gillespie, head of business development.
When asked his thoughts on the proposal, PerfectBusiness’ editor-in-chief, Scott Plesha, simply responded, “Why not?”
Why not indeed. The notion of doing away with the 9 and 5 may just be the inspiration people need to start their own businesses.
Tongue and cheek? The PerfectBusiness team doesn’t think so. Gillespie elaborated, “If the petition succeeds, many of us will be starting our workdays at !:00. Now that’s a change worth considering.”

What do you think about this proposed “ordinance?” Frankly I’ve never met anyone who worked nine to five, but it’s a proposal that may have some legs. If anything, it’s kind of a fun idea.
