Going after those local and national business awards in your vertical will help heighten your PR buzz. How many awards a year does your company go after in your niche? It might seem silly or self-congratulatory to nominate yourself or your company for awards, but it’s a great PR move.
The reason it’s a great PR move is because people pay attention to those awards in your industry and beyond. I recently wrote a feature story for Software CEO about a company who actually has a staff person who devotes a small amount of their every day job tasks to searching and applying for awards. What has happened with this company since it actively started doing this three years ago?
It’s grown by leaps and bounds, it’s becoming more fully branded and is recognized as a leader in its arena. Remember you can’t get these awards unless your company meets the diverse awards criteria, so they’re not easy to get, but they’re well worth it long-term.
Search out the awards in your vertical and start applying for them. What do you have to lose? And send me an email or blog post when you’ve won your first one so we can share your tips with the readers!
Now go out and get yourself medaled!
