Whats the definition of a nanosecond?
The time it takes a New York cab to blow its horn after a red traffic light has turned green!
Today is the final day for tips on traveling in foreign taxis.
Sharing a taxi can be helpful, fun and lets you meet people. However it could also be a scam. A taxi stops for another passenger who gets in and they rob you. Or a supposed policeman stops the cab and robs you or takes you off to a fake police station while your credit cards are used"?¦or worse.
Always ask to see badges when being stopped by the police. Real ones will be only too happy to show you. Never get in a police car if you think it is fake. Say you will meet them at the police station and they can follow your cab if they like.
If you think you are in trouble while in a cab:
– make sure you have the emergency number of the country you are in
– track the street signs
– be ready to leap out and run
Trouble is rare. When we travel in other countries we get a sixth sense about what is safe and what is not. I have been travelling all my life and have never had a taxi problem, however I am always prepared.
