In a blog post last week (link here), I talked about SSL Certificates and the fact they are growing in importance to online businesses. The point behind them is gaining the web shopper’s trust that your site is not a phishing site or otherwise fraudulent website.
If you have a merchant account and use Authorize.Net as your payment gateway, you might be happy to know that they are offering free verification seals to their merchants. You can read about them on their Verified Merchant Seal page (link here).
You log into your Authorize.Net merchant account and go to the Verified Merchant Seal page. Type in your URL where shown, and it will generate the HTML and Java Script code for you. You simply copy and paste it into the appropriate place on your site.
While this is not an SSL Certificate seal, it’s a great value just the same. It lets the user click on the seal and verify that you are a merchant with Authorize.Net. This alone can help ease the ‘trust issue’ with your web shoppers.
If you’re on the fence about getting a merchant account or trying to decide which merchant provider to go with, this might be a good incentive to go with Authorize.net as your payment gateway.
