I just returned from Australia – I had an amazing time in Australia! The country was beautiful and the people were friendly. Even though it was “winter”, I was able to walk around in a t-shirt. I loved it. I gave an hour and half lecture in three different cities: Brisbane, Melbourne, and Sydney. It was so much fun. I felt like a rock star speaking in front of such large crowds. In fact, the experience was so positive, I’ll be returning to the continent to do the same thing in November.
The company I worked for, Global 1 Training, was kind enough to provide me with professional coaching assistance. But even though I had tried to learn as much as possible at home, I was still nervous! But as I’ve said before, things aren’t going to go perfectly the first time you attempt something new. And they didn’t. I was the first speaker on the first day and pretty much whatever could go wrong, did. But I felt more confident on the second day and totally confident by the third. Practice does make perfect. And it definitely helped to have a mentor.
At the end of the day, you have to let the cards fall. There were only so many factors I could control beforehand. It was great experience and I can’t wait to do it again.
