If you’re considering starting your own business and have worked in a startup, you know what to expect. (Many people think of technology businesses when they hear “startup”, but for this post, you can include other businesses as well.) But if you haven’t had that experience, you should evaluate yourself against the statements Martin Zwillig uses in Not Everyone Is an Entrepreneur. He lists 10 of them starting with:
- “I like my life structured with clear decisions.”
- “Handling problems causes me stress and pressure.”
There are 8 more. Zwillig closes with:
In my experience, the most unhappy
people are the ones who clearly fit in one category, but for various
reasons believe they need to be in the other one (entitlement, more
money, more prestige, family pressures). My message is do what you
enjoy. Life is too short for the alternative.
Think about it before you leap.
