Hi! I am Nichelle Stephens and am I self-employed as an accountant to the stars!!!
Actually, the stars I am referring to are the small businesses that are enriching the economy, creating new jobs and new leaders, developing new business models and fostering growth. Small Business owners are paving the way of how work is being done now in 2006. My goal is to assist my clients in managing their cash flow, offer budgeting advice, and keep things running smoothly as they go out get more business. The goal of “Keeping Nickels” is to provide discussion and some cost-effective tips on how to account for the money coming in and out and to keep an eye on the nickels, because they count, too. My background: For six years, I have worked as an internal auditor/management consultant for two Big 4 accounting firms and one boutique consulting firm. I provided internal audit services to a wide range of clients and diverse industries including: advertising, banking, manufacturing, media, nonprofit, telecom, and retail. In all of the projects, I communicated mainly with the COGS IN THE MACHINE. What I mean by COGS, is not you typically think of “cost of goods sold”. I am talking about the administratives, the bill payers, the check collectors. These people are often overlooked in big business, but they keep things moving.
For small businesses, staffs are pretty lean, so the COGS is usually one or two people. The COGS can be responsible for a small business’ viability. With a small business, everything can go “pear-shaped” if a bill doesn’t paid, an invoice is not sent or a payment not deposited. This is where I can help. I can come in few hours a week and be the COG. I feel good helping others as I develop my small business consulting skills. It is a win-win!
