It’s exciting to see our country so energized. Millions were in Washington DC waiting for hours and braving the cold weather to see history in the making – Barack Obama sworn in as the 44th President of the United States.
Even for those who weren’t among the masses in our capital, the Inauguration was mesmerizing and brought together strangers who watched together in airports, restaurants and office buildings. Despite party preferences, people are hopeful that President Obama will successfully lead our country through this time of crisis.
Even the simple gooey butter got caught up in the excitement. That’s right. Gooey Louie, a St. Louis Missouri based bakery, celebrated the InaGOOration with customers by offering Cherry Bama and Baracky Road gooey butter cakes.
Store owners, Kirk and Debbie Stieferman describe the two presidential creations as follows:
Cherry Bama: One thing is for certain: Life won’t be a bowl of cherries for our new president. He’s got a lot of work to do. So, here’s a sweet take on our original gooey butter: cherry goo topped with cherry bits, and packaged inside our custom flavor gift box.
Baracky Raod: Our new president will certainly have a rocky road ahead of him to get this country back on track! So, here’s a sweet take on life ahead: gooey marshmallows, chocolate drizzle and sliced almonds top a chocolate gooey butter and packaged inside a fun limited-edition box. (When they say chocolate, they mean chocolate!)
The Stieferman’s started their gooey butter business during the fall of 2006 after baking hundreds of cakes for friends and family. Not only are their cakes delicious, but they clearly know how to market. By the way, you can purchase the InauGOOration cakes online.
