So you woke up sneezing and sniffling this morning. Do you drag yourself into the office or snuggle back up in bed?
When you’re a solo professional or a small business with a really tiny staff, it’s a tough call to make. If you don’t do the work, it won’t get done. Emails won’t get answered and the phone will forward all calls to voice mail. Is that OK?
You bet it is. When you’re burning the midnight oil at both ends without a break, your body gets worn out. It forces you to take some time off by handing out those sniffles and sneezes. You need to heed its warning.
Just because email arrives all day long doesn’t mean you have to respond right that second. It’s absolutely acceptable to respond within 24 hours. And what about the phone? Same situation. The earth won’t explode if you wait to call people back the next day.
You won’t be doing anyone a favor by working sick — your clients, your employees, or yourself. Take heed and take the day off.
And while your thinking about it, hop on over and read some Cold and Flu Prevention Tips so you can take the steps necessary to stop your next illness before it starts.
