Question: I’m a self-employed graphic-communications artist caught in a ‘Catch 22.’ I’ve outgrown my home office and need to move into a small commercial space. I have enough clients to continue my business, but can’t afford to pay rent.
Additionally, time spent selling removes me from my real love of the business: the creative part. I can’t do both well. I tried to hire a part-time salesperson at a high commission, since I can’t offer a salary, and I don’t want to take on more financial burdens by borrowing money. Any suggestions?”
– Get off the fence, of course. Be a business owner or a technician and act accordingly. This is a common delimma and most people do not even understand that they are acting like a technician and not doing the things that a business owner should. -ed.
