Blogs are made in the shade relational marketing tools. They give your company the opportunity to direct connect with consumers, constituents and colleagues. They help put you in the enviable position of being thought of as an industry leader and expert. They put a human face on your company in a way no other online publishing medium can. You probably knew that already. (And you would if you read this blog regularly.)
Blogs aren’t just for publishing content, they are also a way to drive revenue. For all of the reasons mentioned above and more your blog is itself a sales machine. But, did you know it can also become a vehicle for driving a secondary form of revenue through the use of ads served on the blog and in RSS feeds?
Blog advertising is becoming an industry unto itself. Everyone knows about Google AdSense and Yahoo! Search Marketing (formerly called Overture), but there are a number of other companies jumping into the blod ad space.
If monetizing your blog via ad revenue is something of interest to you, here’s a list of companies with which I am aware that you might want to check out:
- BlogAds – This was one of the first blog advertising companies and is run by Henry Copeland.
- BlogKits – Run by my good friend Jim Kukral of Revenews and Kowabunga fame, its focus is affiliate marketing.
- BURST! Media
- Pheedo – They provide ads in blogs, but are focused on RSS advertising. The company is run by Bill Flitter.
Doubtless, there are other such companies. I just don’t know about them. If you do, please leave a comment and tell us. Thanks.
