Okay, “made easy” is probably not accurate… Advanced search made simpler.
As my first post in this new blog about Online Research and Online Marketing, I thought i would post something light.
So, here’s the tip: Never use a search engine like it says in the instructions. If you open up any search tool, look to the left or right of that little “fill in the blank” box and CLICK on ADVANCED SEARCH. Within that page, you’ll find all the sweet bells and whistles of effective search.
Rieva Lesonsky just did a post on web research that I really liked. Of course, it took the wind out of my plan for this post… Just kidding, Rieva.

My favorite Advanced Search tip is to narrow your search by filetype — as in PPT or PDF or XLS and then by date (also on that advanced page). You’ll be amazed at what you find. Granted, searching is all about smart ideas around which keywords you use, which ones you don’t use, but we’ll talk more about that later.
