I wanted to write about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. today and wasn’t sure where to start. Being in a multicultural family and believing that there is no place for racism in America or elsewhere, I always take this day, the birth of Dr. MLK Jr. as a special and honored one.
It was great to see Tim Manners’ comments in his daily Reveries blog/magazine. If you don’t subscribe to this, it is a wonderful example of new, interesting marketing news and ideas. Tim posts today talking about Mark Oppenheimer’s article in the Wall Street Journal.
I remembered hearing Dr. Martin Luther King’s eloquent speeches while he was still alive – and even then, as a child, was amazed at his confidence and assuredness. What an orator!
In selling, we’ve talked a lot about how true sales professionals who have value to offer, are selling hope – selling a better future. This is what Dr. King did – and while you might think I’m minimizing what he did by calling him a seller – I contend this is what he was. He promised us a better future if we did and didn’t do certain things.
I’ll be at an MLK event today – and thinking of his wonderful, powerful words that still inspire us today.
