Business travel isn’t fun. Actually it never really was. But with post-9/11 security and airline cutbacks travel has become down right abusive much of the time. Airlines are determined to send planes out with every middle seat full and the cabin attendants are focused on jamming people on and off as fast as possible (look out for cattle prods next!). They are also getting tougher and tougher on carry-on baggage.
As you may guess, airlines are not the people or businesses that I admire–far from it. However I just came across a great little site called OneBag.comIt's run as a labor of love by Doug Dyment and has a ton of great ideas about how to travel for days on end in just one bag that you can really get past the Gate Nazis. One of Dyment's projects has been a collaboration with Red Oxx, a small company up in Montana to create what may be the ultimate carry-on bag. It's called The Air Boss and looks like a strong contender. I haven’t pulled out the credit card yet but I did have a very nice conversation with Red Oxx’s customer service group. They did a great job of answering my questions and selling the product without being pushy.
Take a look. If you travel a lot for business, it may save your sanity.
