A little air for small business : “A little air for small business”
By Raymond J. Keating
“Politicians care. How do we know this? Because they constantly remind us. Politicians care about the children, quality health care for everybody, and the environment. In addition, when it comes to the economy, politicians care about the small business community. Unfortunately, some elected officials have funny ways of expressing their love.”
– I agree with this article. One of our government’s responsibilities should be to provide a safe and equitable business environment. This is not to say that an individuals rights should be trumped, but the creation of successful small businesses improve the lives of many individuals. Many small businesses also makes for a more stable economy by way of diversification. As such the government should do what it can to make the entry into small business as easy as possible and balance the playing field so that success, while not necessiarily easy, is not hindered artificially by poor business models (ex. monopolies). This article gives you an idea as to how some states are doing. -ed.
