I was on my own in a hotel room recently when I got an attack of the lonelies. No-one about, impersonal hotel, a lot of work pressure during this visit, no-one to talk to. Sob!
JUST IMAGINE THE REUNION
It gets lonely out on the road, the tearful kiss from partner at the airports or driving away from the house with family waving, this is the difficult part of business travel.
However with current technology, your words, voice and image are never are away. Phone, email, videophones"?¦.why expeditioners in Antarctica and Everest can now let their loved ones know how toasty and warm their igloo is. So from a hotel in Baltimore or a convention centre in Johannesburg, its easy.
Time on your own also helps you become comfortable with your own company, gives you space to think, gains perspective and lets you look forward to the best thing about returning — reunions!
However, for now I will simply feel lonely as I slip from my fluffy bathrobe into my balcony Jacuzzi and read my trashy romance novel without interruptions. Aaaaah, being lonely never felt so good!
