It´s probably a no-brainer that if you are running (or thinking about starting) a business from home, that you will need the support of your family. In addition to having their support, what about actually getting them actively involved?
Getting the kids involved can benefit the family business and the family itself in many ways. First, it can give the kids a sense of accomplishment and pride. Second, it can make them feel that they’re contributing something important to the family (tasks like mowing lawns, washing dishes, or straightening rooms don´t seem to do this for some reason). Third, it strengthens family bonds and gives the family a great unified focus. Fourth, it gives the kids early exposure to business management – a skill that is likely to serve them well. Last but not least, kids can contribute. All parents know how unbridled kids suggestions can be — sometimes that is actually helpful when trying to come up with solutions for common business problems.
So, enlist your household family members and get them involved. The business and the family will be made stronger.
