Barry Callebaut completes Van Leer buyout

The Swiss-based Barry Callebaut Group, a leading cocoa processor and chocolate producer, has completed its acquisition of the Van Leer Corporation, Jersey City, New Jersey. Van Leer produces premium chocolate, chocolate coatings, cocoa powders, panned items and inclusions. Van Leer will continue to 'serve the confectionery community with the best and widest variety of products,' says Tad Van Leer, vice president, sales and marketing. 'We are looking forward to positive changes and continuing the tradition of Van Leer as far as quality and service and accessibility,' he says, Van Leer has annual sales of $45 million and employs 150 personnel.
