For nearly two decades, Natural Products Expo East used Baltimore's convention center for its annual health foods trade show. This year, however, it moved 40 miles southwest, to Washington, D.C.

``You never like to lose business,'' says Carroll Armstrong, president and chief executive of the Baltimore Area Convention and Visitors Association. ``But they outgrew us, and the reason they're going down the road is they're hoping Washington will be as fruitful a destination for them as Baltimore was.''
