NFL Golf Event Benefits NFL Charities and Comic Relief
Some unusual foursomes hit the links for charity at the legendary La Costa Resort and Spa in Carlsbad for the NFL Celebrity Golf Shootout. NFL stars Brett Favre, Warren Sapp, Junior Seau and Tim Brown, were joined by Matthew McConaughey, Ray Romano, Meat Loaf and Richard Kind among others to raise $350,000 for NFL Charities and Comic Relief.
FOX will televise this funny and spirited event on Saturday, Aug. 26, at 4:30 p.m. ET/PT.
The NFL Celebrity Golf Shootout included some unusual NFL twists. In addition to a regulation goal post being added to the fairway on the first hole during the longest drive competition, speed (as players chased down errant shots) was a new golf skill displayed during a timed two-minute hole. Further challenges consisted of a red-zone/bunker shots, an obstacle shot and Hail Mary putting.
The full field consisted of four teams of former and current NFL greats with some of today's top stars from television, movies and entertainment.
