Union Railways, builders of the CTRL rail link from London, England to the Folkestone portal of the Channel Tunnel has released prequalification invitations for the manufacture of precast concrete segments for the second phase of the project, the London tunnels. Some 26,700 x 7.15 m i.d. rings comprising 9+1 segments of thickness 35 cm and width 1.5 m are required, together with 700 x 6 m i.d. rings comprising 7+1 segments of thickness 30 cm.
