First Stage Of CTRL On Target To Open In 2003. (Rail Infrastructure).

The [pound sterling]5.2 billion Channel Tunnel Rail Link project will provide Britain with its first high-speed line. Dismay at the prolonged delay to the start of construction is finally giving way to optimism as the first stage of the link takes impressive physical shape.

THE 109km Channel Tunnel Rail Link (CTRL) between London St Pancras and the Channel Tunnel will open fully in 2007. It is being built in two stages, with construction of the initial 70km section underway and on target to open in September 2003.
