Magna, German Firm In US. Truck Seating Venture.

Magna International Inc. said it formed a 50/50 joint venture company with Grammar A.G. of Amberg, Germany, to supply truck interior systems to service the North Amen-can medium and heavy-duty truck market. The new company's name is GRAMAG Truck Interior Systems, LLC, and it will have its headquarters

in Livonia, Michigan, the company said.

The venture company has been established to make and market truck seating systems developed and engineered by Grammar A.G., a European market leader, into North America, Magna said. GRAMAG will develop seats to meet the unique requirements of the North American market and will supply those seats to its customers on a Just-In-Time (J.I.T) basis, it added.

Robert M. Adams of Magna has been appointed President of the company. According to Adams, "GRA-MAG has already secured business with a major North Amen-can truck producer. We plan to combine the automotive experience and JIT production background that Magna has in North Amen-ca with the heavy truck product expertise of Grammar in Germany. This combination of strengths will provide the North American market with a higher level of technology and service at competitive prices."

Magna International designs and manufactures automotive systems, assemblies and components primarily for sale in North America, Europe, Mexico, South America, and Asia. Magna has over 49,000 employees in 155 manufacturing operations and 30 product development and engineering centers in 16 countries. Grammar A.G., specializing in seat systems for the trucking, agriculture, mass transit, and automotive industries, employs over 3,100 people in 20 production and technical centers in 12 countries.
