Scientific Technologies Inc. introduced the AS6000 Area Sensor. A long-range detection sensor for non-safety applications, the AS6000 features a 15-meter range, response time as fast as 24 ms and a compact 31 mm x 32 mm cross-section to detect objects as small as 30 mm in diameter, according to the manufacturer. The AS6000 was built to function without a separate controller and was designed for factory automation applications requiring object detection of moderate to large size.
