In an important new product introduction aimed at the construction industry, the John Deere Worldwide Construction and Forestry Division recently rolled out six new C-Series II motor graders, five new C-Series excavators, four new articulated dump trucks and a new extra long track crawler dozer.
"These machines deliver the best power in the industry, as well as unmatched traction on slopes and in wet conditions," said Marty Rubter, motor grader program manager, John Deere Worldwide Construction and Forestry Division. "It's a larger, more stable machine with increased weight compared to previous models, which allows contractors to move more material and do more work than ever before."
The 670C, 670CH and 672CH graders are powered by the six-cylinder, turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled, 6.8 L displacement John Deere PowerTech 6068H diesel engine that delivers 140 to 160 net hp. The 770C, 770CH and 772CH grader models feature the six-cylinder, turbocharged and air-to-air aftercooled, 8.1 L PowerTech 6081H engine that delivers 155 to 205 net hp (CH in the grader model number indicates variable horsepower engine). All C-Series grader engines, except for the 670C, have wastegate turbos.
Typically equipped operating weights for the 670C/670CH/672CH range from 35,990 to 39,460 lb., while the 770C/770CH/772CH is typically equipped with weights ranging from 38,220 to 40,835 lb. The 670C/670CH/672CH graders' are 28 ft. 2 in. long overall, 10 ft. 2 in. high to top of cab and have a 19 ft. in. wheelbase, while the corresponding dimensions of the 770C/770CH/772CH are 28 ft. 3 in., 10 ft. 3 in. and 19 ft. 7 in.
The engines drive through direct drive, eight-speeds forward/reverse, electronically controlled John Deere PowerShift Plus modulated shift on-the-go transmissions with five working speeds below 9 mph and inching pedal. Travel speeds at 2000 rpm with 13.00-24 tires (forward/reverse with no tire slip) range from 2.2 mph in shift lever position I to 25.0 mph in shift lever position 8 for the 670C/670CH/672CH, and from 2.2 mph in shift lever position 1 to 25.8 mph in shift lever position 8 for the 770C/770CH/772CH.
