Local Illinois newspaper the Chicago Tribune recently reported that the Highland Park city council has voted to switch its non-emergency fleet vehicles to Toyota Prius hybrids.

According to the paper, Highland Park, IL plans to purchase seven hybrid cars and sell seven of the retired

police cruisers currently being used in the city fleet.

"We've had one hybrid car for the last two years, and it's saved us about $980 in fuel costs per year," said Highland Park fleet supervisor Joe Guill.
