Tacoma, Wash., Port Plans to Widen Waterway.

Apr. 1--The Port of Tacoma is poised to take another major step toward improving present and future container terminals by substantially widening Blair Waterway.

Tacoma's port commission is expected to approve final design work today for:

-- Dredging the waterway to 850 feet wide at the inner portions.

-- Enlarging the turning basin at the south end to 1,700 feet.

-- Expanding the stretch where the 11th Street Bridge once stood to 450 feet a
