SeaStreak to get new owner.

The New England Fast Ferry Co., New Bedford, Mass., has inked a deal with a subsidiary of Sea Containers America Inc., to acquire SeaStreak, with its fleet of four catamarans.

SeaStreak operates passenger ferries daily between Monmouth County, N.J., and Manhattan. The service carries over

800,000 passengers annually.

SeaStreak has been on the block for years. Sea Containers Ltd., has been in Chapter 11 since Oct. 2006.

The New England Fast Ferry Company, a sister company of Moran Transportation, Interlake Steamship Company and Mormac Marine Group, operates ferries from Rhode Island and Massachusetts.

Certain aspects of the sale remain subject to court approval.
